Katie is an Atlanta-based designer who graduated from Savannah College of Art
and Design in Savannah, GA in 1998, with a BFA in Graphic Design. She then
continued studies in Botany at Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, and
German at the Goethe Institut in Atlanta. She worked in the natural foods
industry for ten years, in conjunction with design, so that is her other passion.
When Katie was in 2nd grade, she won a poster contest for "boating safety" and
that inspired her to become a graphic designer. She remembers cutting up a mound
of paper a week, making "nests" all around the house, building forts all in the yard,
taking endless pottery classes, and the Purple Cow craft book that she and Carla
thought was the Bible of creativity, and they literally studied every page in it.
Katie really loves to learn, like about pretty much anything, which is why she is
obsessed with listening to lectures from the Teaching Company and random
podcasts while she creates. Most of her letterpressed goods are locally or
regionally geared, and are sometimes educational, but everything is printed on
cotton paper with soy inks.
